The Cons of Using Cell Phone

April 15th, 2010 No comments

Nothing is definitely beneficial, so is the cell phone. We have to admit: there are some negative impacts caused by using cell phones, although they have made a great contribution to our convenient life.

There’s an old saying, “Every coin has two sides.” At the beginning of phone-using, people are too cheerful and too excited to realize the possible troubles caused by cell phones in the future. But nowadays, the more popular mobile phones are, the more problems we have found. Badly, I even regard the invention of mobile phone as a terrible threaten to human beings.

Here, I’ll give you two most common examples to show you that cell phones really have made bad effects on human life.

1 For Students

Even in the primary schools do you can find cell phones here and there. With a mobile phone in hand, students are apt to play with that all the time, both on class and after class. They may chat with friends by sending massage texts or making a call. Also, they might use the cell phone to play games or search the Internet.

All in all, they don’t realize that they should not use the mobile phone in some occasions. They just think it as a convenient tool to do whatever they like to.

2 For Drivers

Drivers are apt to overuse mobile phones. They always are not the person who make the calls, but are just those who behaviour to answer the calls. Is this situation better than that of students? Never!

Don’t forget, and never forget that, they are drivers, drivers! They are drivers who are responsible for not only themselves, but also the people who are in their car or bus. It’s so dangerous to pick up the cell-phone calls while driving. And it’s totally improper to use the mobile phone when a person is acting as a “driver”.

At last, just pay attention to the decent use of cell phones. Realizing the cons of using cell phones and correct your behaviours if you have done that before.

Home Security – Take Care of Your House with a Monitor

April 15th, 2010 No comments

Home security is an important issue that every family has to focus on. One is not able to have the sense of safety if he/she suffers from the problem of home insecurity. That’s to say, never be careless when dealing with the house security issue.

As we know, home security monitors are used to prevent the home and the property there from burglary. However, few people know that a home security monitoring system has made other contributions.

One of its other abilities to protect your home is the protection from fire. While a home security monitoring system will not prevent fires, it can sound an alarm that could summon the fire department quickly enough to prevent catastrophic damage to your property. Many home security monitoring systems have a built in smoke detection system which enables the security system to detect the presence of smoke which could indicate a fire in the house.

Another aspect of home security monitoring is the use of security cameras inside the home. Security cameras are often installed in the home when there are employees such as daycare providers or cleaning personnel who are unsupervised in the house. The homeowners have to leave for company during daytime, so they are worry about the safety at home. They wonder, whether the employees have finished their work responsibly, or whether they would steal something from the house. Now, with the help of security cameras for home security monitoring, the homeowners are able to oversee the work of their employees while they are outside.

Home security monitoring can also be used to view the outside of your property while you are home. Security cameras can be installed so that they provide a view of your front door. This enables you to check the television monitor to determine who is at the door if your doorbell rings. This type of home security monitoring is largely a matter of convenience because it enables you to not answer the door to solicitors. It can have some security value though. If you install two way communication devices you can use this home security monitoring feature to ask service personnel to display their identification badges before answering the door to ensure that they really work for the company that they say they represent.

In a word, home security monitoring should be a dispensable part in your life. With the useful security monitor, you should not worry so much about the house security any more.

Pet Care Can Be Professional – 3 Tips for Pet Keepers

April 13th, 2010 1 comment

Nowadays, it’s not uncommon at all to find that people are apt to keep a pet at home. However, with the popularization of pet-keeping, there come many troubles meanwhile. Among them, the most heated topic is the concern of pet care.

Pets always are so smart and emotional as human beings, so it’s rather significant to pay much attention to their living. Then how to treat the pets? In fact, pet care is not an easy thing; without professional care, the pet is likely to be weak.

If you don’t know how to look after your pet, or if you have not enough time to take good care of your baby pet, you can turn to the pet care professionals for help. But before choosing a so-called “profissional”, you should make it clear that what should a pet care professional be. Or you are likely to be cheated and your pet may be at the risk of weakening.

As professionals, they can be identified by the following aspects.

1 They have a back-up plan. Because they consider themselves business owners, they have procedures and plans in place to accommodate all the pets in their care – even if they get a flat tire, have a personal emergency, or catch the flu. As you interview pet-care providers make sure you understand, and are comfortable with their “back-up” plans.

2 They use a contract. In order to protect you as well as the business, pet-care professionals have a contract that details their responsibilities while you’re gone. It’s important to spend time reading the document and ensuring that both you and your pet-care provider are clear on what’s expected, and, what’s NOT expected. I’ve heard of pet-sitters who trim nails, clip fur and provide ‘extras.’ This is great, as long as you expect your dog to be trimmed when you return home.

3 Professionals never overbook. Find out how many visits your pet-care provider makes on an average day – then do the math. Ask your pet-sitter to be realistic about how many trips they can make each day in order to ensure your pet is getting visited for the length of time you’ve contracted. No pet-sitter starts out wanting to short-change their clients, but sometimes during busy seasons, in an effort to serve all the clients who make requests, they may be forced to shorten visits. If you are booking for visits during busy times, be aware of this.

In a word, you should never be too careless to involve your pet with risk. It’s of importance and help to realize the characteristics of pet care professionals. In this way, you can find the most reliable “professional” for the best service.

How the Cat Lives in the City of Paris

April 13th, 2010 No comments

Come and see the softer side of Sears.

I came across an exclusive cat store by chance on the college road near the flowers shop when I was researching for rosewater in a famous flower shop in the Latin Quarter. On the shop window sticks a post with a big cat head logo. However, the shop doesn’t sell real cats but various commodities with cat logo or of cat shape. All kinds of decorations are there, hardly leaving anything without marks of kitties. It is simply a rich and interesting world of cats.

This kind of cat shop is not very common in Paris, but it is quite usual to find cat-shaped decorations in various shops. However, those lovely cats that you can see everywhere seem to live no where in the real life.

That is quite opposite to the life of dogs living in the city. In Paris, no matter its behind a bustling block, or in the house owned by normal people, no matter they are rich or poor, people in Paris are more than willing to rely on each other with a dog. Owners will even write touching words on the tombstone when their pet dog died.

Yet in the same city, on the contrary of those dogs who are accustomed to being fed and carried by people, the most real cats are wild even they have a large number in quantity.

It is really hard to know whether those cats are full of disdain to the hypocrisy of those pet dogs that being in clover and strolling on the street with their bodies fatter and fatter each day.

Wood Dinnerware – My Favourite Tableware

April 12th, 2010 1 comment

A great variety of tablewares are sold in every supermarket or store. Nowadays, tableware is not only the tools for eating, but also some kind of decorations in the house. As a result, people spend more time in selecting the best suitable tableware.

In my opinion, wood dinnerware has been outstanding among other tablewares such as sliver tableware and pottery dinnerware.

Originally, wood containers crafted as dinnerware were rounded in shape and were made primarily from coconuts and gourds, although other woods would eventually play a role in the manufacture of dinnerware. For instance, the Hawaiians of the 1700′s used Koa, a favorite wood of their ancient craftsmen, but several other woods were used as well. Today, dinnerware has been influenced heavily by Western culture, due to its history of being hand crafted in Hawaii at one time.

Dinnerware consists of numerous pieces, but compared to casual or formal dishware, the items aren’t as varied. Typical pieces include round or square bowls and plates, and various serving bowls, plates, or utensils. Some sets can be very plain, while others border on the fancy. There are even a few manufacturers that refer to their higher end dinnerware.

Although wood dinnerware makes for a unique type of dining experience, you have to be extremely cautious with how it is cared for. Preventative maintenance along with how it is cleaned is critical to the longevity of any dinnerware set. So keep this in mind if you are considering purchasing this type of tableware. Here are some helpful suggestions where the care and maintenance of wood dinnerware is concerned.

(1) Never put wood dinnerware in your dishwasher. Hand washing your wood dinnerware mild soap and water is always recommended

(2) Any items that have knife cuts should be scrubbed carefully. You should always clean them occasionally with a mixture of 2 tablespoons of bleach per quart of lukewarm water

(3) Rubbing your dinnerware with 120 grit sandpaper or table salt to remove any tackiness is recommended as well

(4) Regular use of bowls, cutting boards and plates always brings out the wood’s natural oils. To condition and enhance your wood dinnerware’s appearance and give it a deeper, richer looking grain, apply a coat of mineral oil after hand washing.

In a word, wood tableware has become much more popular because of their material, functions, and nice shape. When you have taken possession of a suit of wood tableware, never forget to maintain them well.

On Telephone – The Invention and History

April 9th, 2010 No comments

Telephone, one of the most common and important tool, has played a dispensable role in the communicating of our life. As to such an ordinary communication device, how much do you know about it? Here, let’s learn something about the invention and history of telephones.

During the 1870s, the famous inventor Alexander Granham Bell brought the great telephones to the world, which made the life much more convenient. In fact, the telephone is quite similar with telegraph in concept, and it’s the similarity that helped Bell to make a success in inventing telephones.

Bell had a good understanding about the nature of sound and music. This enabled him to perceive the possibility of transmitting more than one message along the same wire at one time. Bell’s idea was not new, others before him had envisaged a multiple telegraph. Bell offered his own solution, the “Harmonic Telegraph”.

However Bell failed to mention that he and his accomplice, another brilliant young electrician, Thomas Watson, were developing an idea which occurred to him during the summer. This idea was to create a device that could transmit the human voice electrically.

Bell and Watson continued to work on the harmonic telegraph. During March 1875, Bell met with a man called Joseph Henry without the knowledge of Hubbard. He listened closely to Bell’s ideas and offered words of encouragement. Both Bell and Watson were spurred on by Henry’s opinions and continued their work with even greater enthusiasm and determination. By June 1875 they realised their goal of creating a device that could transmit speech electrically would soon be realised. Their experiments had proven different tones would vary the strength of an electric current in a wire.

That’s the the process that how telephone came to the our life!

Everything is developing. To keep up with the pace of modern society, telephones have developed to be cell phones for a long time; and the development of cell phones also improve from one generation to another generation.

Buy Earplugs to Keep a Sound Sleep

April 9th, 2010 No comments

It’s said that more and more people are suffering from insomnia or failing to sleep sound. Apart from the stress or pressure in their mind, the noisy environment is the major cause of people’s insomnia. In order to solve this problem in some sense, manufactures have produced a great commodity called earplugs.

Earplugs nowadays have become one of the most popular products in the market; they are considered as the most effective protection to one’s hearing and sleeping. And this is specially true when it comes to the situation of snoring.

Sometimes, we are not able to avoid some snorers. For example, students usually could not choose roommates for themselves; travellers could not predict that whether they would meet any snorers during the trip; and the like.

When you are unlucky to meet snorers, you might be at the risk of being woke up by the noisy snoring. At this moment, how can you keep a sound sleep? I think, the best and cheapest way is to buy a pair of earplugs.

Most of the ones that are in the stores or online are foam earplugs, which will conform to your ear. You can also buy wax earplugs. Another type of earplugs that you can buy are silicone. Silicone earplugs will fit over the ear canal and will last longer then the other types of earplugs that you can buy.

The earplugs will help you cancel the noise coming from the snorer. In this way, you are able to get a sound sleep the whole night, and you are able to avoid doze the next day.

All in all, a pair of earplugs can benefit you a lot. You can not only buy them for yourself, but also prepare some for your families or friends who are suffering from the torture of noisy sounds.
