How the Cat Lives in the City of Paris
Come and see the softer side of Sears.
I came across an exclusive cat store by chance on the college road near the flowers shop when I was researching for rosewater in a famous flower shop in the Latin Quarter. On the shop window sticks a post with a big cat head logo. However, the shop doesn’t sell real cats but various commodities with cat logo or of cat shape. All kinds of decorations are there, hardly leaving anything without marks of kitties. It is simply a rich and interesting world of cats.
This kind of cat shop is not very common in Paris, but it is quite usual to find cat-shaped decorations in various shops. However, those lovely cats that you can see everywhere seem to live no where in the real life.
That is quite opposite to the life of dogs living in the city. In Paris, no matter its behind a bustling block, or in the house owned by normal people, no matter they are rich or poor, people in Paris are more than willing to rely on each other with a dog. Owners will even write touching words on the tombstone when their pet dog died.
Yet in the same city, on the contrary of those dogs who are accustomed to being fed and carried by people, the most real cats are wild even they have a large number in quantity.
It is really hard to know whether those cats are full of disdain to the hypocrisy of those pet dogs that being in clover and strolling on the street with their bodies fatter and fatter each day.
